A group of 10 views of California printed in black/white on 7.25 x 4.5 paper sheets with written descriptions on the reverse. Apparently this was a premium issued by the Singer Sewing Machine Company. The views are: an ostrich farm in Pasadena, Mt Shasta, Monterey, Arizona Garden at the Del Monte Hotel, Baldwin’s Ranch in Pasadena, live oak tree, Stanford University (2 views), boundary monument between California and Mexico and the giant Sequoias in the Mariposa Grove (near Yosemite). Each sheet has some promotional advertising for Singer including an ad for the 20th century sewing machine the Singer “66", a new model that was “just out”. Reference is made to grand prizes awarded by the international jury at St Louis [possibly the 1904 World’s Fair?].
Condition: The sheets are in Good to Very Good condition with slight edge/corner wear and a few thumb creases. The original mailer (requiring a one cent postage stamp) is in poor condition with soiling, edge/wear including short tears and a chunk missing from flap.
