This is a very rare original catalog with the cover title "Authentic Reproductions of Old Sheffield Plate and Antique Silver on Copper" by the Victor Obler Co Silversmiths of New York. It measures about 8.5"x11" and consists of 10 pages offering 80 items including trays, candelabra, inkstands, open salts, bottle labels, tea and coffee pots, biscuit box, shakers, bowls, caddies, cigarette boxes, etc. A facsimile of the company trademark found on the silver is on the bottom of the title page (this is the catalog that supplied the information finally identifying the company mark at the excellent silver marks forum website - it had been listed as "unknown" previously). The catalog does not bear a copyright date but evidence suggests the early 1940's. It is fully illustrated with sharp black/white engravings with captions denoting size or capacity and list price. All of the items are silver plate except for three small articles made in sterling silver (salt spoon, bottle label and tiny shell dish). Of interest also are the factory engraved heraldic devices which ostensibly added to the period feel of these "authentic" reproductions.
Condition: Only Good condition with wear and fading to black paper covers and rusty clips. Some of the cover black has rubbed onto facing pages at front and rear that are moderately soiled, otherwise occasional interior soil with a few tiny brown spots. Contents are complete and legible and still quite useful for reference. No extraneous writing or underlining.
