A small hand painted earthenware dish by the master of Peruvian folk art, Antonio Olave. Born in 1928, he has received numerous medals and awards for his work which reflects the ancient cultures of the region. This shallow dish features human figures along with birds and fish ? in an extremely detailed scene. The dish measures about 6" (point to point) x 5". It is signed on the back ANTONIO OLAVE CUSCO PERU. A wonderful piece of folk art by an important artist (check out his other works online- absolutely amazing!).
Condition: There are some small chipped surface areas adjacent to the holes (I would NOT recommend hanging this on the wall) and the surface imperfections that you normally see in terra cotta pottery pieces (as made).
